Currently only the Division of Crop Production is operated, whereas the other two are temporarily suspended, since the infrastructure as well as the scientific expertise of the Faculty members are focused exclusively on Plant Production.
The Department graduates enjoy fully granted professional rights, having acquired all necessary scientific and technological knowledge and skills with respect to plant production. They can be employed as Agronomists in the private and the public sector at all levels of production, handling, maintenance, standardization, marketing and management of agricultural products, as well as in crop protection and the production of plant propagating material.
The Department through the implementation of a modern and comprehensive Curriculum aims to train its students as qualified agronomists focusing also on the development and application of modern and innovative technologies in Agriculture and more specifically in Plant production.
The duration of studies is eight (8) semesters (including dissertation thesis and practical training).
The Department’s Curriculum covers all the major areas of modern Agricultural Science emphasizing mainly to Plant Production.
The Department of Agricultural Technology, through the use of modern educational and training methods, applied by the faculty members, provides a high level of knowledge and additional skills to its students, which are perfectly harmonized with the latest developments in agricultural science. The graduates are fully qualified and competitive in the labor market , both in Greece and abroad.
Faculty members have established several collaboration projects both at the national and the international level.
Recently it has been approved by the Senate an Msc course provided by the Department entitled: ''Horticultural Technology - Nutritional Value of Plant Products''.
The objective of this M.Sc. course is to train the students in the relevant topics related to Horticultural production and nutritional value of plant products. The Curriculum is specifically designed in order to broaden their experience and scientific knowledge in the application of advanced technologies in crop production. Also the course aims at promoting research in the relevant scientific field, highlighting also, the top quality and the high nutritional value of Greek agricultural products.
